This week, the market exploded with flowers. In addition to my usual splurge, I got to buy some gorgeous coral flowers, for a wedding cake I'll be assembling on Friday night, for a wedding on Saturday. (The cakes are already made and in the freezer - friends from school came over and we had a cake baking party in my teeny weeny 12 square foot kitchen). Some are in bloom for me now, which I get to enjoy, and there are about 15 buds waiting to open, which the farmer told me will look perfect on Saturday. I'm so fortunate to be making a cake for such an easy going bride, that I get to buy Farmer's Market flowers. (Pictures of the wedding cake should be up this weekend!)
Then, to top off the Sunday, I made a wonderfully "Californian" salad for lunch - Farmer's Market baby greens and Strawberries - which are INCREDIBLY sweet - with California Walnuts, and California Proscuitto from a farm just down the road. Finished with Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oil. It was quite lovely on this hot afternoon.
Farmer's Market Salad - delicious.
I'm obsessed.
Wedding Cake Flowers!
These wer new this week so I just had to get them. Anemones are seriously some of the most stunning flowers out there.
This photo is unedited folks. They seriously are just that wine-colored, deep purpleish red, and strikingly black in the center. Love em.
I just finished burning through this candle my mom gave me, and the jar the candle was in makes such a cute vase! And its a perfect size vase for a teeny little house. And it has birds on it. Which I love. Birds always remind me of two of my favorite things - my Mom's house, filled with birds everywhere, from the sunroom to the bathroom, to the basement, and the Bakery I spent the last two years in.
Flowers flowers flowers. It's so special to get such gorgeous plants in the middle of March.
Here's to the California sunshine that gives us these gorgeous flowers and fruits.
Cheers.
